These are the falls the locals keep to themselves — off the map, down trails you'd never find on your own — and for a full day, they're yours.
We move through the forest to two different spots with a guide who reads the trees the way most people read street signs: the sloth you'd have walked right past, the bird you only hear, the movement in the canopy. Wildlife isn't a stop on this trip — it's the whole way there.
Then a natural hot spring, deep in the forest — hotter than the famous ones in La Fortuna, and just as far off the map as the falls.
By the end of the day you've seen two corners of Costa Rica most travelers never know exist.
